Visitors entering the Davistown Museum will
note that to the left of the main hall is the print collection room, which
contains our eclectic display of antiquarian and contemporary prints.
This collection includes etchings, engravings, lithographs, woodblock prints
and multiple process contemporary prints. This room also includes
an extensive collection of the most important journal articles on Native
American ethnohistory in Maine, an interesting selection of books on tools
and technology as well as museum and gallery listings and guides. |

The intent of The Davistown Museum is to provide
an introductory guide to all the major print mediums for students and other
visitors. Included in our collection of prints are original works by Dürer,
Whistler, Currier and Ives and several rare victorian lithographs and chromolithographs. |
|
The collections of The Davistown Museum also
include a small selection of the works of contemporary Maine artisans.
Many of these are in the display case in the right hand side of this photograph,
a more detailed picture of which is shown below. This case also contains
a small selection of interesting antiquarian reference books, logs, and
photographs. |

The Suzanne Nash memorial collection of pottery
and baskets is on the first shelf up from the bottom. This collection
is watched over by a Squidge Davis angel and Suzanne's favorite painting
by Louise Bourne. Our special collections also include baskets by
Ardis Looker, two pieces of art glass by Linda & Ken Perrin, a Melissa
Green ceramic bear bowl and a John Sage burl vase (bottom shelf).
The second shelf from the top includes a Rocky Mann pot, Liz Godfrey's Music
box composition and an Ethel Skeans Clifford basket. On the top
shelf along with some of our rare books is an Alan Crichton skeleton.

Our fourth floor photography exhibition has
a variety of antiquarian and contemporary photographs on display.
Our exhibition of contemporary photography includes three photos by Chris
Church and two by Lorna Crichton, shown on the white wall as well as an
